DEMETER

I’ve curated an eclectic mix of historical and modern pieces to create a space steeped in art and design history. At the centre of the room is a grand antique Louis XV French Rococo marble fireplace mantel, dating back to 1780. Resting on the mantel are several remarkable sculptures: La Cathédrale by Auguste Rodin ( courtesy of the Musée Rodin), and a Roman marble head of Dionysus from the 2nd century.

To complement the mantel, I’ve incorporated a pair of ‘Ondulation’ chairs (circa 1950) by Jean Royère, along with a pair of Royère’s elegant sconces on the wall, which add a mid-20th-century design flourish to the room.

Finally, the wall is adorned with a painting by Glyn Warren Philpot, further enriching the space with a layer of artistic refinement and historical context.
