A richly curated vignette centred around Thérèse sur une banquette, an evocative oil painting by Balthus (1908–2001). Below it, a striking low table in macassar ebony and parchment by Marcel Coard (1889–1975), circa 1925, sets the tone for the room.
Flanking the composition are a pair of lacquered cast-stone prototype chairs by Jean Dunand (1877–1942), circa 1925–30—sculptural in presence, modern in spirit.
Anchoring the scene is a rug by Paul Leleu, circa 1950, its geometric rhythm echoing the period's decorative restraint.
On the walls, a pair of sconces by Albert Cheuret, c. 1925, in patinated bronze and alabaster, cast a gentle glow that completes the tableau.
