CAELUS

Set against a bold, theatrical backdrop of crimson and noir, this curated vignette pays homage to the finest in 20th-century European art and design.

At its heart stands an exceptional Art Deco commode by Louis Süe and André Mare, circa 1922 — a masterwork in marquetry and proportion that anchors the entire composition. Atop it, a lyrical bronze "Cerf tête droite" by Diego Giacometti (c. 1972) nods to the surreal and the primitive, balanced by a vibrant bouquet in a rare c.1930 vase by René Buthaud, rich with the artist’s signature enamel motifs.

Flanking the tableau is a sculptural vision of the human form: the serene classical muse within a gilded niche offering a subtle dialogue between antiquity and classicism.

Above the commode, Balthus’ "Japonaise au miroir noir" (1967–1976) lends an enigmatic stillness, its muted eroticism and compositional tension drawing the eye into a contemplative hush.

Two ceramics by Pablo Picasso — "Petit masque central" (1963) and "Nature morte au couvert et à la pomme" — punctuate the scene with Mediterranean brilliance, reminding us of the artist’s playful yet profound reinvention of form and function.

This mise-en-scène is not merely decorative—it is a layered narrative of 20th-century genius, where sculpture, painting, and design converse effortlessly.
